Score: Novato Stingers 34*, Rancho Cotate Cougars 0
* mercy rule invoked before the end of the third-quarter
The Novato Stingers ran their record to 4-0 with another offensive explosion at Rancho Cotate's field at Mountain Shadows Middle School. The defense came up big again too, allowing the opposing team NO points for the fourth straight game.
Four different Stingers ran for touchdowns before the scoring was capped. Cornerback Alec Ball (12) intercepted a Cougar pass on the opening drive and ran rampant on offense, including touchdown runs of 27 and 7-yards. Mark Alvarez (21) had another big day with a rushing touchdown, and two kicking PATs - which count for 2-points each at this level. And Ben Putman (10) had a typically "studly" day on both the defensive and offensive sides of the ball, including the ten-yard diving touchdown on Novato's opening drive and a 60-yard run up the middle on the last play of the game.
